Ioras – Group Overview

Ioras are small, active passerine birds commonly found in forest edges, woodland, scrub, gardens, and tree-rich habitats. They are often seen moving energetically through foliage, flicking their wings and tail while foraging.

Ioras belong to the family Aegithinidae. They feed mainly on insects, which they glean from leaves and branches, and are known for their bright plumage and distinctive wing patterns, especially in breeding males.

These birds are vocal and conspicuous despite their small size, with sharp calls and repetitive songs that frequently draw attention to their presence. Their adaptability allows them to thrive in both natural and human-modified environments.

This section features photographs of ioras documented across diverse wooded habitats, highlighting differences in plumage, seasonal variation, and foraging behaviour among species.
